All writers have a source of inspiration, whether it comes from music, poetry, philosophy, and anything else that ignites the mind.
Langston Hughes is a prime example of how a person can inspire a work of art even after death. The poet was born in Joplin, Missouri, on February 1st, 1901. He’s written short stories, poetry, and other forms of literature that highlight the beauties of dance, jazz, and African-American culture.
His words have rested on my soul since I read his work, and it’s been the cause of a piece I’ve written to him a hundred and twenty-two years after his birth.
It is a token of all that he’s given me, including my very own project, which toasts the eternal poet that is Langston Hughes.
